There are two ways to reduce the square jaw without surgery: through botox injections and through medium frequency medical treatment.

The botox injection works by shrinking the muscles on the face, making the face looks thinner and finer. The injection only takes 10 minutes and there is no swelling or bruises afterwards allowing the patient to immediately jump into ones' normal life. The injection starts to show its affects after 2 weeks, but the most significant change occurs 3 months after the injection. This "peak" lasts for about 6 months. 9 months after the injection, the muscles start returning. 2 years after the injection, the whole face returns to its original shape. Because of the time cycle of the botox injection, to maintain the face at the "peak" of the botox injection, one needs to continually receive injections every 6 to 12 months.

Unlike the botox injections, medium frequency medical treatment has permanent effects. The treatment works by inserting a coated needle to the muscle area and electrifying the muscles, thereby reducing the size of the face. The treatment procedure lasts for 20-30 minutes, and although it is more painful than the botox injections, many people choose this treatment because of its permanent effects.
